What is a Growth Mindset?

This week in Flyer Time, students learned about having a "growth mindset" and how this helps them be successful when learning. A growth mindset is where you believe you are capable of learning new things, but you might not understand them yet. On the other hand, a fixed mindset is when you say to yourself, "I'm never going to figure this out." Students watched a video about growth mindset, and you can too by clicking here. Our pilots helped lead the discussion of how to put yourself in a growth mindset. Great job, everybody!

It's the Start of a New Year in Flyer Time

Welcome back to school! This year, flyer time will meet five days a week (which is awesome). Some of that time will be devoted to reading for enjoyment. Students and teachers can choose what they want to read. Some classes voted to have a book club and are reading a novel together. Here are some pics from our first day of reading for fun!

SWAG Week!

This year, our annual SWAG (Spirit with a Goal) Week's focus was raising awareness and funds for the Syrian refugee crisis. Each day of the week, students and staff sported pjs, dressed like twins or their favorite Disney character, wore clothes from their favorite decade, and donned superhero costumes. After school activities included pie throwing, dodgeball, and trivia. Everyone had a great week! Check out the photos.
